WhatsApp is now working on a new search message by date feature, designed to make it easier for users to quickly search for messages shared on a specific date within their conversations. This feature is currently in development and WhatsApp has plans to release it for the web client in the future.

SEARCH MESSAGE BY DATE
After discontinuing support for their apps built with the Electron framework in favor of native apps, WhatsApp is currently focusing on improving the web client. In particular, after announcing that they’re working on implementing a new sidebar and a group chat filter in order to improve the user experience and making it easier for users to quickly locate for their conversations, we discovered that WhatsApp is developing an option to quickly search for messages by picking a date. Since this feature is currently in development, it will be available to some users in the future:
As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is working on a calendar button which will allow users to open a date picker panel to make it easier for them to search for a message shared on a specific date. This feature was released on the iOS app with the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.24.0.77 update, and it seems that their commitment to enhancing the user experience now includes plans to bring the same feature to the web client in the future.
In our opinion, this feature will be very helpful for users as one of the most significant benefits is the enhanced ability to retrieve specific messages from past conversations. By introducing a date-based search feature, users will be able to quickly find which messages were shared on a specific date, improving the process of finding relevant information. We think that this not only saves time but it will also reduce frustration associated with scrolling through extensive chat histories. In addition, it may become complicated for users to manage and recall certain messages effectively. A search message feature which includes the ability to pick a date will help users find information quickly and stay better organized with the messages shared in the past.
The search message by date feature is under development and it will be released in a future update of WhatsApp Web. As always, we have plans to share another article when there will be further details about this feature to share with you.
