CHAT FILTER

Three months ago, we announced two new features in development for WhatsApp Web: a revamped sidebar and new chat filters. These features were designed to improve the user experience by providing users with a new interface for the web client and new filters to easily manage their conversations. While the tweaked sidebar is still in development and planned to be released in a future update, WhatsApp is now rolling out new chat filters to some beta testers who use an updated version of WhatsApp Web:

As you can see in this screenshot, a new row is placed at the top of the chat list screen and it includes new important filters to allow users to categorize their conversations. It’s worth noting that this feature is currently available to some users who previously joined the official beta program of the web client, which provides users with access to some exclusive features.

This feature offers users new filters to efficiently manage and organize their conversations on WhatsApp Web. The top row of the chat list screen now includes key filters such as “Unread”, “Contacts”, and “Groups”, allowing users to quickly access specific types of chats. The “Unread” filter, for instance, displays only those conversations that have unread messages, enhancing the process of catching up on important messages. The “Contacts” filter allows users to retrieve a list of messages received from phone numbers saved in their address book. In addition, The “Groups” filter conveniently gathers all group chats in one place, simplifying navigation and management for those engaged in multiple group conversations. In our opinion, these new filters represent a significant step forward in refining the user experience, providing users with greater control over their conversations and making it easier for them to locate specific chats.

The new chat filter feature is available to more beta testers who joined the official beta program of WhatsApp Web and use the latest version of the web client, and it’s rolling out to additional users over the coming days.
