In the article about the WhatsApp for iOS 23.14.74 update, we announced that a channel creation feature was finally rolling out to users in Colombia and Singapore. In addition, WhatsApp revealed in a recent blog post that they would have released the ability to create a channel to everyone over the coming months. A few days ago, the WhatsApp for iOS 23.20.76 update was released on the App Store. While the official changelog doesn’t provide useful information regarding the new features available in this version as WhatsApp didn’t update the changelog from the previous build, we discovered that WhatsApp is widely rolling out a feature to create a channel!
The official changelog still mentions that some features released in the previous updates. However, even though it’s not mentioned in the official changelog on the App Store, we can also confirm that more users are now able to create a channel after after installing this update. Tap the second plus button within the Updates tab to check if this feature is already available to your account, as shown in the attached screenshot. It’s important to note that WhatsApp keeps releasing the channel creation feature gradually. This means that not all users will receive it simultaneously even if it’s widely rolling out with the recent versions, and it may take some time before it becomes accessible to everyone WhatsApp continues its phased release to a wider user audience.
If you don’t have this feature, note that some accounts may receive it over the coming weeks, although it has not been indicated in the official changelog. Please stay ahead by regularly updating WhatsApp from the App Store and the TestFlight app to get this feature in the future in case you don’t have it after installing this update.
