WhatsApp is rolling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.23.18.12.
What’s new in this update? WhatsApp is working on a feature to send original quality photos and videos, and it will be available in a future update of the app!
ORIGINAL QUALITY
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.12.13 update, we announced a new feature available to some beta testers: the ability to send high-quality photos. With this feature, users can finally share photos in better quality than before. This improvement comes as a welcome addition for those people who often felt frustrated by the loss of image details and clarity when sending pictures through the app. However, as we explained in our previous articles, there was still light compression for these images, even when the resolution was preserved, within its limits. Finally, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.12 update, we discovered that WhatsApp has plans to bring the ability to share photos and videos in their original quality, for a future update of the app!
As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is really working on a new feature to send original-quality photos and videos. Specifically, a new entry point will be available within the documents picker that will easily allow users to select photos and videos from their app gallery. These photos and videos will still be shared as documents, but WhatsApp is now making it easier to share them by allowing users to select media from the gallery without navigating through multiple menus or folders.
In our opinion, this improvement is great news for those WhatsApp users who want an easier way to share their original-quality photos and videos. In a future update of WhatsApp beta for Android, you’ll be able to share photos and videos in their original quality with just a few taps, without any extra steps. This user-friendly change shows that WhatsApp cares about making sharing media simpler and better for users by keeping media quality intact.
The feature to send original quality photos and videos is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. As always, we will publish a new article when we have further details about this feature to share with you.
