Medium is a fantastic platform to learn how to write.
The community are incredibly supportive and the fact that you can earn dollars from day 1 is no mean feat.
100 stories later though, I’m spending less time on this platform.
Why?
Because to really monetise your writing you need traffic, and this ain’t no place to build an abundance of traffic.
Direct paid words are just the beginning
As James Julian said in one of his recent pieces, to make a decent income on Medium, you can’t just rely on the direct partner program revenue share.
This means that you need some sort of product to steer your audience towards:
- A course
- Paid newsletter
- Mentorship
- Service
You get the gist.
It feels dirty, but if you want to make cash, Partner Program’s not going to cut the mustard.
