Kamila, 32, showed a screenshot of an email she received from the National Lottery, which said: “Good News. You have won a prize on the national lottery.”

However, when she discovered the amount that she had won, she was sorely disappointed.

Kamilla explained: “I can’t lie to you, waking up to this email this morning, a part of me genuinely thought I might have won the big time.

“I might be spending the afternoon in the Maldives, no one would be hearing from me for a little while.”

Unfortunately, she had only bagged £3 on the EuroMillions draw, leaving her devastated.

She questioned whether the email would have looked different if she had won hundreds of thousands of pounds after getting her hopes up.

However, she was able to see the funny side as she joked that she had made “£1 profit” on her winning ticket.

Commenters were quick to offer their sympathy and share their own similar stories on social media.

One wrote: “This happened to me one month ago.

“I was already planning all the scenarios in my head.”

Another added: “Mate this was me last week.

“Woke up to the email and it was too early to check.

“Already wrote my resignation letter in my head…I won £5.”

Meanwhile a third said that the lotto was their “retirement plan” to which Kamilla replied: “You’re not alone in that plan b.”
